In this report is presented the design of a multi-agent system allowing the realisation of aesthetic animations. It is part of an artistical project called Le Jardin des Hasards, funded by the Natkin-Berta gallery and realized by Bernard Gortais, whose goal is to propose a graphical and poetical representation of the cli mate of a real place to the spectators, by presenting them a vir tual world where entities provided with different forms and col ors live, act, move and interact. Directly inspired from multi- agent simulation techniques used in the MIRIAD team, this work allows to explore the parallel between the processes of simula tion (of a real world) and design (of a virtual one), the emer gence of an aesthetic sense (from the artist's point of view) and the emergence of a functional sense (from the computer scien tist's point of view). It then contributes in an essential way to the research about how to interpret a complex system, be it real or virtual.
